All About
Ostrich
This distinctive leather has a pattern of bumps or vacant quill follicles ranged across a smooth field in varying densities. The quill follicles represent the area where the feathers of the animal once belonged. Ostrich leather is characterized by raised points that are localized to the center of the hide. The portion in which these bumps are found is called the ìcrownî, which is located where the animalís neck meets the body. All of these physical characteristics make this particular leather one of the rarest and most popular leathers. Ostriches are most commonly found in South Africa.

Nile Crocodile
This tough leather is made of a surface that contains large osteoderms. These osteoderms are simply bony deposits that form scales, plates and other structures in the dermal layers of the skin. The armored crocodile skin has scales and is very thick and rugged, making it one of the most durable leathers. Although this leather is tough in nature, it has an amazing ability to be extremely flexible. Crocodiles can be found throughout the tropics all around the world including Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia.

Louisiana Alligator
This tough leather is extremely similar to that of crocodile leather with just a few distinct differences. Alligator skin is armor-plated, meaning it will have bony plates inside the skin which makes the skin very hard and durable. In addition, on the back of the alligator are ridges, within these ridges there are small spikes and each spike is made by a piece of bone. Although very similar to crocodiles, alligator hide likely comes from the Southern United States and will feature an umbilical scar that is unique to the species.
